Life

4 years since D-Day

Today – Sept 22- it’s now been 4 years since D-Day. It was a day that changed our life and made our “normal”different, it was a day that made me want to crawl in a hole and cry for days, it was a day that when I look back now, has changed us – but instead of for the worst it helped us choose to be more and for the better to live more, to love more, To try harder, and to know that in just a moment your life can change! We decided that it’s time to ‪#‎choosethismoment‬ and Live this life and even when bad things get thrown our way we won’t give up, we hold on in the dark and we shine our light!
4 years ago Hunter at 12 years old, he was so sick and we couldn’t figure out why he did not feel good, he could barely walk around on his own so I took him to his Pediatrician and they told me that he was in DKA- for those who don’t know what that is, it’s when your body shuts down due to type one diabetes. His blood sugar was very high and he was dehydrated. They had me rush him to providence children’s ICU and we spent 3 days in there as they got his body back under control. There Steve and I sat scared to death wondering how we were going to make this all work and if we were going to be able to help him and how was his life going to be carrying a silent disease around that we knew nothing about. Thankfully technology and science has made living with type 1 diabetes a little easier but it’s not perfect. I pray daily for a cure and for hunter to be healed but for now we do ok and some days we do amazing, the thing is we keep going every day even when I carry a little sadness behind my eyes, I also carry something more and that is hope and change and that with this one life we have to live, How are we choosing to live it and what difference can we make to make it better to help someone else who might feel the pain in a situation that changed their world?! Don’t be scared of your story even if it feels small to you- it could be a light to someone else! Matthew 5:14
